Fela Kuti Interview (1986)
KCRW has posted an interview from their archives with Fela Kuti. I was only introduced to Kuti's music a few months ago and instantly became a big fan. He has one of the most hard fought lives of any artist in history, and you can hear that in his voice in this interview. It was recorded after he was released from an 18 month stint in Nigerian prison. His crime? The government claimed "currency smuggling" but it was more likely because he was heading to LA to play a show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Phantom Planet - Dropped
To be honest, I haven't really thought about Phantom Planet in a long time until I saw this awesome video over at Today's Big Thing, but now I'm curious to hear more. The video is directed by Eric Wareheim and it's really crazy, in the best possible way. Check it out...

Lou Reed - Charley's Girl
I just wanted to post this one for anyone who thinks they may like Reed's music but still isn't sure, this should put you over the top. A sweet little diddy that encompasses everything that's brilliant about his music: catchy tune, off center imagery & that Lou Reed swagger. If you like this tune, definitely pick up Coney Island Baby, it's pretty much perfect.
